HEART RATE LAB Question: What is the difference in heart BPM when resting for 1 minute then running for 1 minute than just running for 1 minute after sitting down. Hypothesis: I think that your heart rate will be faster when running around after you relax because your heart has to change pace very quickly. Variables: I – exercise | D – heart rate | C – time resting and time running Procedure: 1. Take heart rate after resting then running 2. Record 3. Repeat #2 – 3 two more times 4. Take heart rate after standing then running 5. Record #4 – 5 two more times Data: Aaron

Total Av. 156 144 Limitations for Experimental Design: The most difficult thing to control that limited me in my lab was human error. The thing that was the most difficult things for a human to do were, one, to find their accurate heart rate, and second, to run at the same pace for all of the tests. If you did not run at the same pace as the previous run it would change your overall heart rate, which is difficult enough to find accurately by itself. Suggestions for Improvement: If I were to do this experiment again I would find a better, more accurate way of finding heart BPM to make sure that my results are as accurate as possible. Conclusion: Does your heart rate change if standing then running and laying down then running? The answer is, yes. My hypothesis states that I think that resting (laying down), then running makes your heart rate faster than if you stand then run, this hypothesis was correct due to the averages of all our average heart rates. The average BPM for all of us when resting then running was more that ten beats higher that if running before standing. That means, if you are trying to run with a lower heart rate, you should run after doing a little bit of physical activity (standing or even just talking).
